Vinnie is Vinnie, he's hired because he plays like he plays, and I think that how he plays this track it's not by the most easy way too so...

Often, if you listen to one of the "crossover country" tunes, you might be surprised at how hip the drumg actually is within the specific genre. Often reminiscent of much of the pop/rock drumg during the 80s/90s, but usually even more interesting really, which is natural evol, because the players hired to play it today actually listened to diverse styles growing up.
[It's just that sometimes you may have to "tune out" some of the lyrics or subj matter [img]wink.gif[/img] ]...

Personally, I have never been a fan of the deliberate indulgence of the "whiny" nature of the pedal steel [most of the "twang" in country, besides the occasional "southern" voc accent], which is one of the major reasons I shyed from it as a youth [i liked the acoustic, electric, AWA EVH/rock gtr sound!], but regardless there are some great players on it out there.

However, I've always dug the classical-symph rooted violin AWA jammin' uptempo bluegrass fiddle [a la Marc O'Connor, etc].

I always liked the Dregs fusion of country w classical, rock, blues, & occasional funk & jazz spices. Also a big fan of the Hellecasters & Flecktones.

Anyway, it's a cool thing to hear one of the scariest proponents of fusion drumg ever [not intending to "label," just simply for lack of better term] providing the backbeat/backbone for a pop-crossover-country artist.
